I took a serious look at myself and the entire caregiver world I stepped into.  Then I took one more step and got honest with myself.  

It was hard to admit where I was.

Who was I kidding?  I was so overwhelmed that it was affecting my health, work, family and self-worth.

Feeling stressed, stretched and overwhelmed is an understatement. You aren't prepared for the caregiver life and just when you think you have it figured out, some other challenge or emotion pushes you back and you feel like you can't go on.  

Here's what I have learned:  Putting yourself first has to be your first step.  Your mind and heart will fight you and until you accept it and make the necessary changes, you'll stay stuck.  When you do, you can start living with less stress and more joy.
